Baseball

Baseball is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams, typically consisting of nine players each. The game takes place on a diamond-shaped field, with bases arranged at the corners. One team plays defense, taking positions in the field, while the other team bats, attempting to hit a ball thrown by the pitcher and reach bases in a counter-clockwise direction to score runs.

The game is divided into innings, with each team given a turn to bat and a turn to field within each inning. The objective is to score more runs than the opposing team by hitting the ball and effectively running the bases. The defense aims to prevent runs by getting batters out through various methods, such as throwing the ball to a base before a runner arrives or catching a hit ball before it touches the ground.

Baseball is known for its rich history and is often referred to as “America’s pastime,” though it is played and enjoyed worldwide. Key elements of the game include pitching, hitting, fielding, and base running, and it incorporates rules surrounding strikes, balls, and outs, which govern the flow of play.
